BOTTLE SHOCK
Directed by Randall Miller
SYNOPSIS: There are certain moments in history when America has proven itself to the world: Neil Armstrong setting foot on the Moon; or the US Men's Hockey team beating the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympics. One such moment, however, never got the
recognition it deserved: In 1976, a small American winery bested the exalted French wines of the time and sent the wine industry into a tizzy - putting California wines on the map for good.
Based on a true story, Bottle Shock chronicles the events leading up to the famous 'Judgment of Paris' tastings, told through the lives of father and son, Jim and Bo Barrett. A former real estate attorney, Jim (Bill Pullman) sacrificed everything to realize his dream of creating the perfect hand-crafted chardonnay. His business, however, is struggling, and he's not only trying to overcome differences with his slacker son (Chris Pine), but is also fighting off the creditors.
Meanwhile in Paris, unwitting British wine shop owner Steven Spurrier (Alan Rickman) hopes to revive his own failing business by sponsoring a competition which will pit the traditional French powerhouse against the California upstarts. Little did Steven and Jim realize that they were both on course to change the history of wine forever.
BOTTLE SHOCK opens August 6, 2008
BEER FOR MY HORSES
“When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune And we'll all meet back at the local saloon And we'll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing whiskey for my man, beer for my horses.” “Beer For My Horses” - Toby Keith and Scott Emerick Beer For My Horses is a rough-ridin', beer-swillin', sheriff-dodgin', trouble-chasin', good ol’ boys comedy-adventure written by and co-starring sup erstar Toby Keith and popular comedian/recording artist Rodney Carrington.
Inspired by Keith’s #1 hit song, “Beer For My Horses,” the fun-filled action-adventure careens onto the open road with two buddies – Rack (KEITH) and Lonnie (CARRINGTON) – who have quietly been pursuing justice as deputies in a small Southern town. But when Rack’s irresistible girlfriend (CLAIRE FORLANI) is kidnapped by a particularly nasty drug lord (CARLOS SANZ) as revenge for the arrest of his brother Tito (GREG SERANO), the duo decide to defy their boss, Sheriff Landry (TOM SKERRIT), and chase them down . . . by any means necessary. Rounding up the town’s most off-beat lawman – Skunk Tarver (rock legend TED NUGENT), a defiantly silent man who chooses to use a bow n’ arrow instead of a gun – they take off on a rip-roaring road trip with all the makings of a rollicking comic joyride that’s not afraid to go over the top.
Beer For My Horses is produced by Toby Keith and Donald Zuckerman and is executive produced by TK Kimbrell Jeff Yapp and Leslie Belzberg. The director of the movie is Michael Salomon.
Keith, Carrington, Forlani, Skerrit, Nugent, and Serano approached the film in classic road comedy style – letting loose and adding a wild unpredictability to the film’s outrageous stunts. Rounding out the eclectic group of actors taking on the film’s uproariously eccentric characters20are cameos by Barry Corbin (No Country For Old Men), country legend Willie Nelson and country music outlaw David Allan Coe.
